From burnout to breakthrough: Revolutionising the way we sleep

For over a decade, I lived in a state of exhaustion. As a teenager and young adult, I battled chronic insomnia for 11 years—trapped in a cycle of overthinking, stress, and sheer depletion.

Nothing worked. Not the conventional advice, not the sleep aids, not the endless nights of frustration.

And then I hit a wall. Collapsed. Woke up in the hospital.

I had a choice: Take medication for the rest of my life or make a radical change.

I chose change.

I began studying natural medicine, holistic therapies, and the body’s innate rhythms. Instead of trying to force sleep, I focused on understanding what the body actually needs to rest deeply. Slowly, I started to heal.

I didn’t just regain my sleep—I regained my health, my clarity, my life. And with it, a passion was born.

Sleep education we all need

Through my own recovery, one truth became clear: We are never taught how to sleep, despite the fact we’re all meant to spend one-third of our lives sleeping!

Had I learned how to support my body’s natural rhythms earlier in life, I could have been saved years of struggle. What if sleep was something we actually learned? What if it was taught in schools?

That realization changed everything.

I began teaching sleep education and stress management in schools, knowing that if children learned these simple truths early, they could avoid years of exhaustion, stress, and burnout. This work was the beginning of what would become a lifelong commitment to reshaping how we approach sleep—one that would evolve into programs, methodologies, and ultimately, a fresh perspective on what it means to rest well.

Developing Holistic Sleep Therapy

Over the next decade, I worked in Australia, Switzerland, and New Zealand, helping people from all walks of life—executives, parents, business owners, and high performers—who were struggling with chronic stress and sleep issues.

Through thousands of hours of clinical practice, I refined an approach that went beyond standard sleep hygiene. Over time, this unique, deeply human method became recognized as Holistic Sleep Therapya science-backed, yet soulful way to restore our natural ability to sleep.

And what I’ve seen, time and time again, is this:

We are not broken.

We haven’t lost the ability to sleep—we’ve simply drifted too far from our body’s natural rhythms.

With constant stimulation and relentless stress, we’ve moved further and further away from the conditions our bodies need to truly rest. We don’t need another app. We need a sleep education.

And once we have it—once we understand how to work with our biology instead of against it—we can return to deeply nourishing, nightly recovery.

Scaling Impact: From private clients to global reach

As demand for this work grew, I knew it had to reach more people.

I was invited to deliver workplace talks and workshops through a health and safety company I was contracting with, and the impact was undeniable—leaders and teams saw immediate, measurable improvements. This momentum led me to take what I had learned from one-on-one practice and develop corporate sleep and recovery programs—helping organizations and leaders navigate stress, avoid burnout, and restore high-performance sleep.

My work also reached a global audience when my audio program, Sleep Well Tonight, was featured on Qantas in-flight entertainment for five years—helping thousands of travelers rest more deeply at 40,000 feet.

I also developed The Sleep Kit for Kids, making this work accessible to families—offering parents a simple, proven solution to help their children sleep well. Now, after years of real-world success, I am leading a clinical trial with Southern Cross University to further validate its impact.

In 2017 I founded The Sleep & Dream Foundation, my deepest heart work—dedicated to helping children and families who’ve experienced trauma reclaim their ability to sleep, heal, and rebuild their lives.

Sleep isn’t just personal—it’s foundational to how we show up in the world. And while I’ve worked with leaders, parents, and entire organizations, I know that real transformation happens one person at a time.

Why this works matters to me

At the heart of it, this work isn’t just about sleep. It’s about what happens when we stop running on empty.

I’ve seen it over and over again—the moment someone finally gets the rest and recovery they need and feels a sense of aliveness they thought was gone forever. The way their face changes, their eyes brighten, and inspiration returns.

Because when we reclaim our rest, we reclaim so much more than sleep. We get our life back.

We lead better. We love better. We show up for the things that matter.

And that’s why I do this work.

I’m so glad you’re here—and I hope you’ll be part of this movement toward a more well-rested, clear, and vibrant world.

Extending the gift of rest

This work wouldn’t feel complete without extending rest to those who need it most. That’s why I founded The Sleep & Dream Foundation—to bring deep restoration to children and families recovering from trauma. Sleep isn’t just rest—it’s a foundation for hope, resilience, and a new beginning.
